Katie & Padraig – Brooklodge
In the month of August 2022 I returned to a venue I always enjoy- Brooklodge at Macreddin village in Co. Wicklow. The sun was shining, and I was in the mood for some taking some great shots. Everything went swimmingly and I was delighted to hand over fantastic images to a great couple, Katie and Padraig. There was a transatlantic glamour to proceedings in Wicklow that day, as American Katie and Irishman Padraig returned to the Emerald Isle to tie the knot.
I always really enjoy the effort Brooklodge takes with their wedding preparations. As you can see in the images here, they take care to ensure the grounds are immaculately maintained with lovely touches like the floral displays on either side of the wooden bridge en route to the ceremony. There is a beautiful chapel on site, with room for about 140 guests and its intimate and simple style ensures the focus is on the couple as they exchange their vows. Have a look at the images included here to get a sense of how a simple backdrop can create a warm atmosphere that facilitates all the love in the room!
If you have looked through a few of my weddings online or on Instagram you will see that myself and my clients often enjoy the great outdoors! In keeping with the simple and chic theme of the day Katie and Padraig had a lot of their images taken on the beautiful grounds of Brooklodge. I find that we don’t really need fancy backdrops or expensive props for great photos. A beaming couple and some trees, planting, lawns or creeping ivy on old brick walls is all we need to generate stunning classic images that will stand the test of time in spite of passing trends. It happened to be a gloriously sunny day for Katie and Padraig but prospective clients can be reassured that good weather is not a prerequisite to getting lovely outdoor shots. Even rainy, misty landscapes can be used to good effect to create something beautiful and lasting, whatever the weather. I hope that this is where my experience as a landscape photographer also comes into play- I am used to working in all kinds of conditions and can spot the beauty and potential in all of them.
Have a browse through Katie and Padraig’s gallery and enjoy the gorgeousness of the outdoors, the simplicity of the chapel, and the clear love and happiness radiating from the lovely couple.
